AbstractThis chapter provides a brief history of integrated pest management (IPM) in Ghana; describes the principles and implementation of the farmers' field schools (FFS) methodology in promoting the adoption of IPM, as well as the issues and constraints in the implementation of FFS; mentions the IPM stakeholders in Ghana (farmers, extension agents, researchers, non-governmental organizations, international centres, UN agencies, donors and policy makers); and presents case studies on the impact of FFS on cabbage production at the Weija irrigation scheme during 1998, and on the management of plantain weevils and nematodes through the integrated crop and pest management approach.
