This chapter explores the adoption of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in small and medium-sized hospitality enterprises (SMHEs) by building on Gamble's model (Progress in Tourism Recreation and Management (1994) 5, 273-288). The four phases of ICT adoption in the specific case of SMHEs are discussed, namely: (1) environmental phase; (2) strategic or collaborative phase; (3) management phase; and (4) innovative phase. The new model takes into account the emerging internal and external factors that have an impact on the SMHE sector.
