AbstractTriatominae are grouped according to the degree of association with human dwellings as follows: primary domestic vectors, primary domiciliary vectors, secondary vectors, and sylvatic vectors. Strategies and techniques for the control of Triatominae including insecticides, insect repellents, insect growth regulators, insect pathogens, biological control, genetic control, traps, housing modifications, and health education are summarized. The three primary elements for the control of domestic Triatominae include: chemical insecticides, community health education, and rural housing improvement. Implementation strategies follow three main phases: preparatory, attack and vigilance. History and progress of Chagas' disease vector control are discussed in detail.
