AbstractThe first section of this chapter provides an overview of the history of leisure and time-use surveys in Canada during the period 1967-2000. The second section examines trends in time use, feelings of time pressure, and leisure participation. The third section explores social differences in time use and leisure participation with respect to gender, age, educational level, and socio-occupational status. The fourth section presents observations on some conceptual, political and methodological issues of time-use and leisure research.
