Abstract
This chapter illustrates how approaches to fire blight (Erwinia amylovora) risk assessment evolved and gives guidance on the principles on which they are based and on their applications. Field risks are defined, and the evolution of risk assessment systems and models are described. The use and applications of systems and models (weather data and weather analyses), disease assessments and disease control, disease resistance and severity, and evaluation of risk assessment systems and models are discussed.
