Aphid movement: process and consequences.
Author:
Abstract
This chapter reviews the movement of agriculturally important aphids. It includes information on how different morphs and life stages redistribute themselves in response to intrinsic factors and extrinsic perturbations over time and through spatial scales that span walking behaviour on individual plants to aerial transport over very long distances. The chapter explores the economic consequences of aphid movement and weaves the multiple roles of movement into the tapestry of pest management, providing insight into ways of manipulating aphid movement and thereby mitigating the negative economic impacts resulting from it.
