Vitamin A, infection and immune function.

Abstract

This chapter summarizes the biochemistry and metabolism of vitamin A and its role in immune function and resistance to infectious diseases (i.e., measles, diarrhoea, lower respiratory tract infections, malaria, human immunodeficiency virus infection, tuberculosis and infections in pregnant and lactating women).
