AbstractThe pests of cereal crops in Western Europe that belong to Agriolimacidae, Arionidae and Milacidae, including Deroceras reticulatum, Arion distinctus and A. subfuscus, are mentioned. The pest population density (as affected by spatial patterns, cultural practices and natural enemies in cereal fields) and feeding rate (palatability of host and availability of alternative food), as well as crop vulnerability, are discussed as the factors that determine the intensity of crop damage. The cultural, biological (mainly predators) and chemical control of these pests are included.
