Abstract

Abstract

US participation trends identified in two sources: the 1995 National Survey on Recreation and the Environment, and the federal assessment of outdoor recreation and wilderness; are presented. Participation trends over the 20th century, whether showing growth or not, are identified and discussed, and the management and policy implications of these trends described.
