Abstract
This chapter discusses the sources and metabolism (absorption, storage and transport) of copper in ruminants, as well as its interaction with other minerals like molybdenum. The occurrence, predisposing factors, biochemical and clinical manifestations, diagnosis and prognosis, and prevention and control of copper deficiency are also presented. The other topics covered in this chapter include the copper requirements of livestock, like ruminants, horses, pigs and poultry, and the incidence and the clinical manifestations of copper poisoning in these species.
