Protein turnover in some pathological states: malnutrition and trauma.

Abstract

The physiological response of the body, in terms of protein turnover, during pathological states, viz. malnutrition and trauma, is discussed. Specific data from studies done on the protein turnover in Nigerian children with varying degrees of infection and malnutrition and on the body composition and whole body protein turnover in undernourished Indian labourers, are also presented.
