Abstract
This chapter discusses the life cycle of Diplostomum spathaceum, signs of infection (parasitic cataracts and other pathological effects in the eye) and effects of infection on fish (mortality, physiology, feeding and growth and predator avoidance). Strategies for the control and prevention (immunization and interruption of life cycle) of the disease are also given focus.
