Abstract
This chapter describes the taxonomy, ecology and history as a crop, morphology, yield and its components, disease resistance, breeding objectives and methods, approaches to enhance oil production, cultivation (including seed rate, spacing, sowing time, climate, soil and fertilizer requirements, irrigation, harvesting, disease, pest and weed control), growing for biofuel production, and by-products from seed meal, of oilseed brassicas, namely Brassica rapa [B. campestris], B. oleracea, B. nigra, B. carinata, B. juncea and B. napus.
