Adipokines in the immune-stress response.

Abstract

This chapter outlines the evidence for the contribution of the adipose tissue to both local and systemic elevations in concentrations of adipokines (leptin, adiponectin, interleukin-6, tumour necrosis factor-α, resistin, visfatin, complement, acute phase proteins, chemokines, and toll-like receptors) and their role in the immune-stress response.
