Abstract
This chapter focuses on the adaptive physiological and ecological responses to warming in cold-temperate marine ectotherms. To understand centrally important traits of thermal tolerance, adaptive traits that restrict the capacities of cold stenotherms from Antarctic environments to acclimatize to the present warming trend in Western Antarctica are studied. The present knowledge of regulatory pathways that support metabolic adaptations to warmer temperatures is also discussed.
