Insect-protozoa-bacteria associations: a model system for investigating host-parasite interactions.

Abstract

This chapter focuses on insect immune response to infection, pathogen development in the host and interactions between insect host microbial flora and pathogens. This review summarizes the results of research conducted on one insect host-parasite model system, the tsetse fly and its associated microorganisms.
