Abstract
Here we present an open-source Python package, SupSpec, which aids in finding the velocity structure of spectral features throughout supernova (SN) ejecta. This code is designed to require minimal user interaction and can ingest an arbitrarily large number of spectra. By fitting a Gaussian distribution to the spectral sequence of a single SN over time, it finds the “velocity structure”—the evolution of the velocity of a specific absorption feature over time. SupSpec is available on GitHub and on Zenodo.
