Abstract
Analysis of coadded high resolution spectra of the chemically peculiar star HD 53929 recorded by the SWP and LWR cameras on board the International Ultraviolet Explorer yields estimates of the abundances of silicon and manganese, respectively 1.5 and 6 times the solar abundances, in the atmosphere of this star. The synthesis of the 4400–4500 Å range allows the determination of the abundances of helium, magnesium, phosphorus and iron. Compared to solar abundances, helium is very underabundant (0.05 solar), magnesium is also underabundant by a factor of 0.20 times the solar abundances. Phosphorus is overabundant by a factor of 20.
