Abstract
A rupture of a sinus of Valsalva is a rare cardiac anomaly. A continuous murmur may be the first clinical sign. Transoesophageal echocardiography is the preferred diagnostic tool. Additional imaging techniques can be used to confirm the diagnosis. In case of rupture, prognosis is poor and therefore repair is always required. In this case report, we describe a 65-year-old asymptomatic patient with a continuous cardiac murmur leading to the diagnosis of a previously unsuspected ruptured sinus of Valsalva. Surgery was suggested even tough the patient was asymptomatic.
