Abstract
AbstractBabindella physoura and B. whianensis gen. et spp. n., are described from Queensland and New South Wales, respectively. Babindella is distinctivc in having a symmetrical male postabdomen with the seventh and eighth segments fused, ands is regarded as the sole representative of a new dolichopodid subfamily, the Babindellinae. The development of symmetry in the diptcran male postabdomen is discussed.
