Abstract

AbstractBased on several recent conflict resolution training workshops conducted in the Middle East, the article examines some of the obstacles and challenges which face trainers in terms of: (a) utilization of certain training approaches; and (b) transferability of certain Western conflict resolution concepts and tools, to other contexts. While not claiming to provide comprehensive answers to these challenges, the article presents some guidelines on how to integrate local and traditional experiences of dispute resolution in the training, thereby increasing its effectiveness.
