Abstract
The nurse residency program (NRP) was developed as a recruitment strategy for new graduate registered nurses (NGRNs). The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic impacted health care in many ways, including causing a decline in NGRN retention rates. Post-pandemic, the NRP needed to incorporate strategies that would promote nursing retention. Effective collaboration and innovative strategies were found to be key elements in promoting successful NGRN retention.
