Abstract
Tobacco use disorder (TUD), the leading cause of preventable deaths in the United States, disproportionally impacts those with psychiatric disorders. There are multiple first-line, U.S. Food and Drug Administration–approved pharmacotherapy options for the treatment of TUD. The current review focuses on these medications, underlining practical tips to improve cessation rates, while emphasizing a harm reduction and patient-centered approach to treatment. [
