Abstract
A study was undertaken to determine the feasibility of introgressing genes from the octoploid to the tetraploid cytotype in Bromus inermis Leyss. The octoploid × tetraploid, hexaploid × tetraploid, and "pentaploid" × tetraploid crosses were successfully made. Progeny varied in chromosome number from 2n = 29 to 2n = 35 with no 2n = 28 plants. These aneuploid plants were highly sterile.Key words: Bromus inermis, octoploid, tetraploid, introgression
