Abstract
The pattern of leaf senescence was determined for 10 short-season maize (Zea mays L.) hybrids grown in central Ontario during 2 yr. In both years, 60% leaf senescence was attained 9 days before black layer formation. Differences in rate of leaf senescence were observed between years and among hybrids within years. These differences were not related to stem soluble-solid concentration at grain maturity.
