Abstract
A new mutant leaf character "torn-leaf" in alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) is described. Segregation in F1, S1, and S2 populations indicates that this character is inherited as a simple recessive. Tetrasomic ratios were observed. The gene symbol tl is proposed for this character.
