Abstract
The paternal half-sib estimate of heritability computed from 14 316 Dorset lambs across Canada was 0.50 ± 0.04 for daily gain from 50 to 100 d of age, 0.31 ± 0.03 and 0.47 ± 0.04 for lamb weights at 50 and 100 d of age. Estimates of genetic and phenotypic correlations between daily gain from 50 to 100 d of age and 100-d lamb weight were 0.86 ± 0.02 and 0.76, respectively. Corresponding correlations among lamb weights at 50 and 100 d were 1.02 ± 0.02 and 0.73. Key words: Dorset, lamb weights, genetic and phenotypic parameters
