Abstract
Certain biological constraints on the production of protein by pigs and poultry are identified. These constraints are discussed under disease and environment, growth, cartilage and bone metabolism, genetics and reproduction. Research emphasis and possible solutions are described briefly. Key words: Pigs, poultry, biological constraints, growth, reproduction
