Abstract
Greatest emergence of wild buckwheat was obtained from seed planted at the [Formula: see text]- to 2-in. depth of soil. Emergence occurred throughout the growing season, the peak being in May and early June. Less than 15% of the original infestation emerged during the first [Formula: see text] years in the soil. Flowers, immature seed, and mature seed were present on the same plants from August to the end of the growing season. Seed production per plant declined progressively from 30,000 for the mid-April seeding to 15,000 for the mid-June seeding.
