Abstract
The effects of various meteorological factors, particularly wind, on the evaporation readings from a black Bellani plate and two types of black porous disc atmometers were compared. The linearity of atmometer response curves to wind was sufficiently similar to allow accurate comparison between them, at least with respect to wind velocity. For practical purposes the response of the black porous single-disc atmometer to wind in a tunnel was very similar to that under natural conditions. The three atmometer types used gave measurements of evaporation which differed under identical meteorological conditions, and average differences were greater than those reported elsewhere.
