Abstract
The major anthocyanins in the pericarp of the purple-seeded wheat (Triticum aestivum) cultivar, UM 606a (Hard Federation//Chinese Spring/Nero/3/3* Pitic 62), were cyanidin 3-glucoside and peonidin 3-glucoside with trace amounts of the corresponding rutinosides. Acylated derivatives of the cyanidin and peonidin glucosides were also detected. The coleoptiles contained mostly cyanidin 3-rutinoside, acylated cyanidin glucoside, and acylated cyanidin rutinoside with smaller amounts of the corresponding peonidin derivatives. In addition, two unidentified acylated cyanidin glucosides were detected.
