Abstract
Fungi were isolated and identified from diseased roots of rape (Brassica campestris L.), from several areas in Alberta. Rhizoctonia solani was the most prevalent fungus, followed by several cultivars of Fusarium roseum. Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, a common pathogen of rapeseed, was infrequently found. Some of the isolates were tested for pathogenicity on seedlings. Rhizoctonia was the most pathogenic followed by Alternaria alternata and isolates of Fusarium. A single causal agent could not be specified.
