Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the residue levels of pesticides detected in tomato, pepper and cucumber produced in Tokat. Health risk assessments of these residues were also carried out. A residue analytical method was verificated for the determination of 260 pesticides in these vegetables by liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS). For method verification assessment, pesticide-free cucumber matrix was spiked with 10 and 50 µg kg¹ levels. The linearities, LODs, LOQs and mean recoveries of the pesticides ranged 0.990 to 0.999, 0.71 to 2.96 μg kg¹, 2.36 to 9.86 μg kg¹ and 77.25-117.61%, respectively. This method was evaluated to monitor 28 vegetables collected from Tokat province (Turkey) in 2020. Seventeen pesticides were detected from 16 samples and pesticide concentrations were higher than MRL in 3 samples. Maximum Residue Limits (MRL) were exceeded for pyridaben in 1 pepper sample and metrafenone in 2 cucumber samples. The health risk assessment study for detected pesticide residues in samples indicated that these pesticides have a great chronic toxicity potential for consumers.
