Abstract

Throughout the last decades, the process of deterrence and of securitization of EU borders has gone hand in hand with a decades-long pattern of routine and systematic pushbacks perpetuated by the Greek authorities against refugees, migrants and asylum seekers. The present article studies the intensification of the phenomenon of pushbacks at the Evros region over the past years and, especially, after the EU-Turkey statement.
