1. Jessica Hemmings is a Reader in Textile Culture at the Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton. She was awarded a BFA in Textile Design from the Rhode Island School of Design, an MA in Comparative Literature (Africa/Asia) from the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies and wrote her PhD at the University of Edinburgh. Her first book, Yvonne Vera: the Voice of Cloth, explores the use of textiles in Zimbabwean fiction and is published by kalliope paperbacks this year.
