HER WORK HAS ADDRESSED A RANGE OF ISSUES INCLUDING SECTARIAN VIOLENCE, FEMINIST MOVEMENTS, MEDICAL ANTHROPOLOGY, THE STATE, AND THE RELATIONSHIP OF PHILOSOPHY TO ANTHROPOLOGY.
2. JONATHAN M. ELLEN IS PROFESSOR OF PEDIATRICS AT THE JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE. HE HAS CONDUCTED EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES AMONG ADOLESCENTS, FOCUSING PRIMARILY ON SOCIAL NETWORKS AND BEHAVIOR THAT PLACES YOUNG PEOPLE AT RISK OF HIV AND OTHER SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS.

SHE HAS PUBLISHED EXTENSIVELY ON TOPICS INCLUDING HEALTH AND SEXUALITY, CLINICAL PRACTICE AND THE STATE, AND THE HOUSEHOLD IN HEALTH STUDIES. HER CURRENT PROJECTS ARE A LONG-TERM STUDY OF THE IMPACTS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE OIL INDUSTRY AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF A MAJOR PIPELINE ON HOUSEHOLDS IN SOUTHERN CHAD, AND AN ETHNOGRAPHIC STUDY OF THE SOCIAL WORLDS OF YOUNG WOMEN IN FOUR MAJOR US CITIES...
