Abstract
Based on the 3-D joint multipath shape factors theory, this paper studies the spatial selectivity of Rice channels of wireless communications. A 3-D joint multipath angular power spectral density (APD) model is proposed, and then the closed expressions of the 3-D double spherical harmonic coefficients and 3-D joint multipath shape factors are derived. The errors in the existing formulas of 3-D joint multipath shape factors theory are further pointed out and corrected. The results can provide theoretical support for quantifying and simplifying the analysis and design of 3-D multiple input multiple output (MIMO) beamforming technology and smart antenna arrays for the 5G communication.
