Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between bricolage and innovation behaviors in intensive care nurses. This study has a descriptive and cross-sectional design. The study sample consisted of 83 nurses working in the Intensive Care Units of Bursa Uludağ University Health Application and Research Center between December 2021 and April 2022. Research data were collected using a "Nurse Introduction Form", the "Individual Innovation Scale (IIS)", and the "Bricolage Scale". Mann-Whitney U Test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Spearman correlation analysis were used in the analysis of research data. The mean scores of the nurses on the subscales of IIS were 28.53±4.90, 18.54±2.45, 19.81±2.49, and 6.79±1.59 for resistance to change, opinion leadership, being open to experience, and taking risk, respectively, and their mean total score was 58.62±5.61. The mean total score of the nurses on the Bricolage Scale was 33.44±4.51. As a result of the statistical analysis, it was determined that the score of the nurses working only in the day shift on the subscale of being open to experience, the total IIS score of the nurses who had been working for 4-8 years, and the score of the male nurses on the subscales of being open to experience and taking risk and the Bricolage Scale were statistically significant compared to the other nurses. Moreover, there was a positive and strong correlation between the Bricolage Scale score and the scores on the subscales of opinion leadership, being open to experience, and taking risk, and total IIS. It was concluded that there was a positive relationship between intensive care nurses' bricolage and innovation behaviors and that some independent variables of nurses influenced bricolage and innovation behaviors.
