Author:

Horjak Marjeta

Abstract

This paper highlights organisations’ experiences regarding the implementation of electronic records preservation compliant with Slovenian regulation that entered into force in 2006. An empirical qualitative research was performed in public and private organisations from Slovenia and the EU in 2011 to understand the legal requirements’ impact on electronic records preservation in organisations. A subsequent research was carried out in 2020 to measure developments in the field. The comparative case study indicates a trend for the future implementation of compliant electronic records preservation. The key obstacles and incentives are identified that impact its success rate and recommendations for operational guidelines are offered that are based on international findings and encourage the implementation of compliant electronic records preservation in organisations.
