Abstract
Here, we demonstrate that purinergic 2 (P2) receptors contribute significantly to the blood pressure response to treadmill exercise in male rats both with and without simulated PAD induced by femoral artery ligation. We found no role for P2 receptors in the blood pressure response to treadmill exercise in female rats, thus revealing clear sex differences in P2 receptor-mediated blood pressure control during exercise.
