Abstract
We presented a new pedagogical method to describe the extracellular potential generated by a muscle fiber as the output signal of the convolution between an input signal and an impulse response. The input signal represents the action potential traveling along the fiber, and the impulse response represents the system formed by the fiber and the recording electrode. The output signal is the summation of the contributions from all individual dipoles that formed the input signal.
