Abstract
The time required for the vascular-extravascular equilibration of albumin in various tissues of the mouse was determined. Radioiodoalbumin was injected intravenously and tissues were sampled at intervals of 5–720 minutes postinjection by freezing the mice in liquid nitrogen. Vascular-extravascular equilibration of radioiodoalbumin in plasma occurred at about 1 1/2 hours postinjection. The vascular-extravascular equilibration of radioiodoalbumin in the tissues occurred at approximately 45 minutes postinjection in the liver and intestine, 1 1/2 hours postinjection in the muscle, and about 2 hours postinjection in the kidney, spleen, and lung. Vascular-extravascular equilibration of radioiodoalbumin in the skin had not occurred within the 12 hours postinjection period of analysis.
