Abstract
Destruction of the interrenal tissues of frogs is followed by a marked decrease in active sodium transport across the isolated skin, measured electrically or isotopically, and by an increase in the electrical resistance of the skin. These values are partly but not completely restored by treatment with mammalian adrenal cortex extract, hydrocortisone, or aldosterone; ACTH is ineffective. Frogs did not survive destruction of the interrenal tissue more than 10– 14 days even if salt and glucose were administered.
