Abstract

We investigate the effect of moderate exercise after a high or a low glycemic index meal on nadir glucose and glucoregulatory hormones in gastric bypass-operated individuals and in matched unoperated controls. Cycling shortly after meal intake did not increase the risk of hypoglycemia in operated individuals. The low glycemic index meal increased glucose nadir and reduced excursions compared with the high glycemic index meal. Operated individuals had lower postexercise glucagon responses compared with controls.
