Abstract

Different types of exercise training induce distinct physiological adaptations however few exercise training studies have assessed the impact of different modes of exercise on cardiac function. This study investigated changes in left ventricular systolic and diastolic function following exercise training. Participants completed both endurance and resistance training separated by a 12-wk washout period so each participant is their own control. We present adaptations in cardiac structure and diastolic function are exercise mode specific.
