Abstract

Abstract Paper presents feasibility study for verification of the hypothesis of improving the productivity of reload operations using screw conveyors with rotary casings. For this purpose, an experimental installation was developed and experimental studies were conducted. Research results fully confirmed the hypothesis. On the basis of a feasibility study of casing rotation in screw conveyors, the conveyor performance increased by 24%, with the conveyor capacity thereby increased by 4.5%. Due to the application of rational parameters of the screw conveyor with a rotary casing, overall economic factor was improved by more than 10%. To achieve the economic efficiency of reload operations using screw conveyors with rotary casings, the rotational frequency of the casing should range from 460 to 620 rpm.
