Abstract

Abstract Euonymus latifolius in the Bohemian Massif – In the present study, scattered and mainly previously unpublished distribution data of Euonymus latifolius for the Bohemian Massif are aggregated and presented in tabular and graphical form. In Lower Austria, the otherwise pre- to perialpine distribution pattern extends northwards to the area of the Bohemian Massif, becomes isolated and represents the European northern range edge of autochthonous occurrences with an exposed range outpost in the Lower Austrian Freiwald region. So far there is evidence from 10 quadrants. Although siliceous growth sites are also colonized, the ecological assemblage remains species-typical and includes deciduous forests, but also copses. The discussion is mainly devoted to the topics of floristic status, cultivation and dispersal ecology. Contradictions in the reference material concerning range and status data are pointed out.
