4. Historically, the Dzyaloshinskii-Moria interaction was first introduced to explain the phenomenon of weak ferromagnetism in centrosymmetric crystals. Generally the presence/absence of DM interaction is associated with the local symmetry of the interatomic bonds and it leads to a spiral twist of the magnetic structure in magnets without inversion center.
