Triphenyltin 3-(1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)-propenoate (triphenyltin β-piperonylacrylate) adopts a carboxylate-bridged helical chain structure with the tin atom in a trans-trigonal bipyramidal geometrical environment. The two tin-oxygen bond distances (Sn–O = 2.234(2) Å, Sn<–O = 2.246(2) Å) are not significantly different, implying significant covalent character in the bridge.
