Abstract
The excitation and emission spectra of NaBr with high thallium content have been examined. The data obtained have revealed that the luminescence behaviour of heavily doped NaBr: Tl phosphor differs markedly from that of the lightly doped one. It has been shown that besides generally accepted isolated substitutional Tl+ ions, the charged complex ions of the type (TlBr
n
)− also act as luminescence centres.
